How to adopt

Because I am concerned about my hamsters well-being, I'll be careful when you will ask me to adopt one of my hamsters. I will ask you about what you know about hamsters, your experience with it, or what kind of housing you will provide to the hamster, amongst others things.

Adopt an animal isn't insignifiant, this is a responsibility. You will have to commit to take good care of your hamster until the end of his life.

My hamsters will never be a burden to me and what I want is not to make them adopt quickly, but to make them go in good homes.

I will also be happy if you send me some news after the adoption and even some pictures.

Adoption fees :

Adoption fees are 15 euros by hamster. (except rehoming for adult hamsters)

A pedigree will be available for breeders.

In case of carsharing, extra cost of 8 euros is required for the transport box. Of course the transport box will be the property of the adopter.

About the reservation list :

When a new litter will be officially announced, I will open a reservation list for it. Then you can ask me to be put on the reservation list. It doesn't commit you to adopt one of the young hamsters later but you will be prioritary when it will be time to choose amongst the young hamsters.

When the babies will be around 3 weeks I'll do my own choice. I'll keep one, or maybe two hamsters. Then people on the reservation list will be able to choose amongst the others hamsters according to their position into the reservation list.

For example : There is three people on the reservation list : A, B and C. I do my own choice then A can choose his hamster amongst the others ones (or step aside if no hamster attracts him), then B choose his hamster amongst the others ones, and so on... until the end of the list of reservation. The remaining hamsters will be up for open adoption.

Pick up your hamster :

You will be able to pick up your hamster after it is 40 days old (around 6 weeks old).

I won't bring you your hamster to your house, though it is possible to talk together to find a way to bring your hamster closer. Carsharing is also possible if you live far away from the hamstery. You can also pick up your hamster during an exhibition where I will be or to pick it up straight from the hamstery.

Note 1 : Search for carsharing should be done by the adopter on websites like Blablacar or on websites/groups about rodents. However we will tell you if we are aware of any potential carsharing or if we plan to move somewhere where we could bring your hamster closer.

Note 2 : I am coming to exhibitions in Belgium and Netherlands several times a year.

When you will come to pick up your hamster, please take with you a transport box with some bedding, some pieces of paper tissues, a little bit of food and a fresh piece of vegetable in it.

If you don't have any transport box or can't find one, you can get one from the hamstery for an extra cost of 5 or 8 euros depending of the transport box you would like.

Left : Pico Box for 8 euros - Right : Fauna Box 3L for 5 euros

Your hamster cage should be ready before it comes home. I won't let you get your hamster if you don't have a proper cage with good accessories, ready to receive your hamster from his first day home.

Please leave your hamster alone on his first day in his new home. It needs some time to get used to his new environment and get his bearings. Wait until the next day to start taming.
